About
Overwhelmed by the urge to create a blog, I spent some time reading about accepted practice. There are an awful lot of people who seem to know an awful lot about blogs, and about getting traffic to them. Many of them seem to only blog about blogs, which to me seems a little Alice in Wonderland and rabbit-hole-ish. So, apart from being my blog, this one is an experiment – an experiment to see if it will be found and read, without any overt attempts by myself to encourage visitors, or even inform them that it exists. It’s all to do with that slight frisson of disgust you get when you meet someone who works just a little bit too hard to be popular. To paraphrase Paul Graham’s opinion in this essay, it seems to me that being popular takes altogether too much effort and concentrated maintenance, and prevents people behaving in natural ways that might otherwise lead to happy and fulfilling lives.
High-horse and patronising maybe, but let’s see how it pans out.
